Nursery World Awards

Deadline for entries: Friday, 5th June 2009

To enter, please download an entry form, and follow the guidelines below.  Entry forms will be available early March 2009.

You may enter any number of appropriate categories.

A completed entry form must accompany each entry, even when it has been entered in another category.

If you wish to submit multiple entries you may make photocopies of this form. You may also reproduce the entry form on your own word processor system, but please adhere to the same layout. It is important to complete the entry form in full. If the work has been commissioned by another organisation please secure the signature of a senior person at the commissioning organisation.

In addition to the information requested on the form, each entry must be accompanied by a submission that briefly describes the entry, and answers all specific questions and details requested within the category criteria.

Refer to specific categories for word limits. You may attach additional supporting material such as evaluations, inspection reports, testimonials or press cuttings to back up statements made in your submission.

It is clearly understood that in some cases entries may include commercially sensitive information. Nursery World reserves the right to publish descriptions and case studies of winning entries, but if an entrant asks for any part of their submission to remain confidential, it will be treated as such.

Sponsor organisations are not allowed to enter the category they have agreed to sponsor.

The decisions of the judges are independent and final and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the results.

For each entry you should send in:

  • Four copies of the entry form
  • 15 copies of your submission
  • One copy of any support material

Tips for entering

The judges will be looking for hard facts rather than bland statements or unsupported assertions. It may be useful/appropriate to include:

• A brief description of the individual, team, organisation, initiative or product
• A brief description of aims and achievements, with specific examples to illustrate why the nomination deserves to win
• Particular issues or challenges faced and how these were addressed
• If the work was innovative or broke new ground, state how
• What are the views of children and families about the nominated individual or service? Have they been involved in the development of a service?
• Give details of any partners involved
• Evidence of success. Supporting material could include:
o Printed or online material produced as part of a project
           o Testimonials or supporting statements
o Research, inspection or evaluation reports
o Details of awards, kitemarks etc
o Press cuttings, promotional material or photographs to give a flavour
              of the nominee's work

Do not overload the judges with material. Make what you send in really count.
